My Typepad free trial expires in two days and I've decided I am going to take the plunge! Effective today, WebBP.net will now resolve to this site (bryce.typepad.com). You are experiencing the evolutionary launch of WebBP, release six. WebBP is a lot like Air Force One: There is only one at a time, but it changes from time to time.
WebBP, release five, will continue to exist (because there is a lot of value in old content). It will now be known by its occasional title "byline: bryce" or its URL (bryce.weblogs.com). I have not yet decided if I will continue to post to bryce.weblogs.com or not. There are some things that I like very much about the Userland Manila environment (which I've used since 2000 to author my original blog). There are other things about MT/TypePad that have become so compelling that I have decided to move my primary personal blog to this environment. In the end, what I would love is a marriage of the two technologies, of course. (Ben, Mena, Dave, are you listening?)
I think what will happen initially is that I will post all personal entries to this site (bryce.typepad.com) and utilize both sites to some extent for more global posts (current events, technology, design, usability, digital culture, development, etc.). Over the long haul, I will probably either segregate them entirely and reposition bryce.weblogs.com as more of a specialized media offering geared to readers interested in those topics or else launch another Typepad-hosted blog to replace it. TBD.
The line is always going to be a bit messy because some of my best (or at least most popular) personal content like my EuroTrip01 travel journal will continue to be hosted at bryce.weblogs.com.
Your input, comments, ideas and suggestions are welcome as I make this change.
Welcome aboard!
